Date on Latin baptismal record

Post by Biff83 »

I am having trouble deciphering the date of my 2nd great grandfather's baptism; year I believe is 1797, possibly 11 October?

Domenico Epifano, son of Geniale and Cecilia Pagliaro

Thanks

Yes, 11 October 1797 (although could be 12 October). Not sure about the gender though as I am reading Domenica.

I'm reading the day as the 12th. I also agree with Angela that the name is written as Domenica, however, the word for birth in this record is natum, which should be masculine. The two records above this one use natam for females.

Erudita,

Thanks for your input. I also saw the use of the masculine ending -um instead of -am as well as the initial surname written as Epifanius and then xd out to Epifanio. That's what made me think this record was for Domenicus.

However, in checking further I found record for a Domenicus Epifano with the same parents born two years before. I will post that one as a separate entry.
