Leonardo Pasquale Pangaro marriage 1874
Leonardo Pasquale Pangaro marriage 1874
Please help with translation of this marriage record. I am having a lot of difficulty reading it and the Publication was not any easier. Best guess is:
Leonardo Pasquale Pangaro son of deceased Vincenzo and living Mariantonia Amendolara, age 26 married Maria Maddolena, age 26, married in Chiaromonte in 1874.

I believe you have the details correct. Date was 10 Oct 1874.

Leonardo's 1848 birth act from Chiaromonte; right margin has baptismal information. Two sided document. Toggle forward for the second/back page.

Thank you Biff for reviewing the marriage document and providing the link to Leonardo’s birth record. I was unable to locate a birth record for Maria Maddolena in the Chiaromonte records between 1846 and 1851. Did the marriage record say where she was born or who he parents were?
Could it be that her name was Maria Maddalina with no last name stated? Her son named his first daughter Maddalina.
Thank you,
Karen

After Maddalena Maria's name in the marriage record is the word projetta (proietta)-meaning "foundling."

Just to add to what Erudita has said, you will find births for children that were foundlings, recorded in the "Diversi" documents. I did take a quick look through the years 1857-1859 inclusive but didn't see a record for a Maria Maddalena there, but I may have missed it because of the way they are set up. There are no indices so you have to go through the records page by page and look for the name given to the child as it is not always in the same place.

Maria Maddalena was born in Fardella, Potenza some time late March 1848. She was baptised 1 April 1848. Her baptism record is here: http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0
Her birth act follows on the next two pages.

Thank you Erudita and Angela.
Not seeing her parents’ names I expected that she was a foundling but wanted to be sure. What may I ask led you to look at the Fardella records?

I suspected she possibily wasn't born in Chiaramonte so checked through the Marriage Banns, and noted there that she was born in Fardella, March 1848. Marriage Banns are always a good backup because they sometimes (but not always) include added info. Glad the info was included there.
