I read this from another post and would like further info.....
What does it mean if the child does have the father's name but is listed as a "figlio naturale" but there is no mothers name?
Does that mean the father was the true father but the mother is unknown.
I have an ancestor who had three sons all listed as "Figlio naturale" but with no mothers name. Are they adopted or are they blood relatives?
what can i assume?
thank you,
Mauro
Figlio Naturale
Re: Figlio Naturale
the figlio naturale is a child born out of marriage ( for exemple: when a husband have the child from another woman, and not from wife, and viceversa).

Re: Figlio Naturale
This occurred three times with my ancestors.
So i guess he was very "amorous" but since he is listed as Don Francesco and his occupation was a "propietario." he was also financially stable enough to raise three kids out of wedlock.
Thanks again SusanJ!
