Esposito family New Haven ct 1800s
HI, I'm doing research on my Great Great Grandparents who settled in New Haven Ct in the late 1800s. Their names were Salvatore Esposito, married to Lucia Costanza, in New Haven, in August 1884.
My Great grandfather was their son Frank, born July 1894, married to Josephine Vita in 1916.
Does anyone here have any family connection to them, or any information to share?
I have a family tree on Familysearch.com, and would appreciate any help you might have.
I've been unable to determine what part of Italy Salvatore & Lucia came from.
Thanks,
Christie

Re: Esposito family New Haven ct 1800s
from his naturalization the birthdate was 8 Oct 1857 and no 8 sep 1857 like on the death record... also on a public genealogic tree on ancestry.com.. his place is wrote Pagania, Cosenza, I believe wrong because I searched in Cosenza province and no one born on 1856/1857/1857/1858...
because the name is very popular I believe helpful to know the his parent's names...
regards,
suanj

"Esposito" (exposed) was a very common 'foundling' surname...

Yes, I believe there may have been 2 or 3 Salvatore Espositos living in New Haven at that time, so I can't say with any certainty which is correct. I contacted the cemetery in West Haven where he was buried, to get more information. He has a family plot with many family members so hopefully they will find something for me.
Thanks everybody for your responses!

Re: Esposito family New Haven ct 1800s
I found a possible born in different iyear but same day and month.. He was marrid on 1877 to Maria Esposito .. I don't know if could be helpful... if is the same man that on 1878 went in USA and probably abandoned his wife.. mayve just a strange coincidence....
In the naturalization papers he stated to be born on 8 Oct 1857.
so:
Salvatore ESPOSITO born in Castellammare di Stabia on 8 Oct 1853 #844 son of Antonio, 30 old, mariner, and of Stanislava (?) DI MARTINO 30 old. Married on 28 Apr 1877 to Maria Esposito born in Meta, Naples, IT on 30 Jan 1851

second page https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=1482813
You think possible a similar story?
You have his marriage record in Connecticut?

Re: Esposito family New Haven ct 1800s
wthout to know Salvatore parent's name it is hard because several Salvatore Esposito born in the area.. and actually our main trace is the birthday and probably the birthmonth.. But the day is sure never changed, and I believe October right.. But the birth year could be false because many italians don't lied abt that especially if the wife was more young..

There was a Catello esposito listed as a witness to Salvatore & Lucia's wedding. He was married to a Rosina Costanza, I'm trying to make a connection. Catello's father's name was Antonio.
