Help with Pelligrino Nucilla's birth register

Post by Jbenfante »

Everyone here are ANGELS for all the help you provide. I need help making sense of this birth register. I see names but because its not a printed form- its hand written, I can't figure out where the parents names are placed and who they are. Any help with the translation, including any comments about the birth are appreciated.

#171
Pelligrino Nocilla
Dated 10 November 1881 in the town hall of Caltabellotta
Appearing before the official was the midwife who helped with the birth on 9 November at 6 PM to Giuseppa Guarino, daughter of deceased Pellegrino [Guarino], age 24, legitimate wife of Mascario Nocilla, son of Paolo(?) [Nocilla], age 24, farmer , in their home in San Francesco neighorhood, a male child who was presented to the official and whose parents intend that he be named Nocilla Pelligrino (Surname is Nocilla)

Thanks you so much! The only thing is the record is in the register for 1871, and I checked a few of the entries around this one and I think its 1871 instead of 1881. I'm glad you helped me on this cause I would have incorrectly thought the midwife was one of the parents. Much appreciated!! :D

On further study, I'm thinking that is is Laurino, not Guarino and Rosario instead of Mascario, only because these are more common names for Caltabellotta. But it helps to have a second pair of eyes, so thanks again.

I agree with the year of 1871 - the handwriting made it difficult to be accurate.
In the future, if you can post the link to the record we can verify the date.

The name of the father is Macario as I read it.
The surname of the mother is Guarino - look at the "G" at the beginning of her given name "Giuseppa" and you will see the same formation. The surname Guarino is found in Caltabellota.

Perhaps the script is clearer on their marriage act, or the birth of another child.
