Pasquale Siena 1830s from San Paola di Civitate

Post by mgmeraviglia »

Good morning.

I am researching my husband's great grandparents and extended family from San Paola di Civitate. From several people on this website I have learned that Antonio Maria Meraviglia 1863 was abandoned at birth and named by the civil servant. Very interesting!

I haven't found out much about his wife Maria Siena born 1850 except his wife's father's name and need help finding more about him: Pasquale Siena. Also his wife Maria Paliferro?

Searching for information from this town is quite time consuming. Any suggestions for an efficient way to find info and translate it?

Thank you

Have you tried genealogy websites like Ancestry.com and familysearch.com?

If you post records here in the section on "Italian Language, Handwriting", etc. members will translate.

According to the marriage processetti that you posted in another thread...
Maria Siena was born 5 November 1849
Her father Pasquale Siena was 65, and his occupation looks like Guardabosco (forester/wood ranger?).
Her mother was Maria Giuseppa Paliferro, age 36, his legitimate wife.
At the time of her marriage in 1888 to Antonio Maria Meraviglia, Maria Siena was 36, and both of her parents were deceased.

Here is the death act of her mother, Maria Giuseppa Paliferro, on 21 July 1886

#59
Maria Giuseppa Paliferro was age 75, housewife, daughter of deceased Pasquale [Paliferro] and of deceased Domenica Rinaldi, both farmers. She was the widow of Pasquale Sieno (that is the spelling in the record.)

Death act of Pasquale Siena (father of Maria Siena) in 1871.
#78
Dated 3 September 1871 - death on same day at 9 AM in San Paolo di Civitate
Pasquale was the son of deceased Alfonso [Siena] and of deceased Maria Tarantino.

Thank you so very much.

You have given me more information on them in just a few hours than I had found in many days of looking. I must say my understanding of Italian is very poor so I didn't realize so much was in the documents.

I have used both of the geneology websites suggested by darkerhorse and have also searched using Antenati.

Thank you again for all your insights and suggestions.
