Is this Baptismal for a girl or boy Buccheri?

Post by italian059 »

Would someone please let me know if the child in the record is a girl or boy. Wondering if it is Lucia? Was the actual birth on the 18th?
Thanks so much,
Mary

I can't understand all, someone else will complete.
I read:
Date of baptism 28 February 1837,
name Lucia, daughter of Paolo e Rosa Buccheri.

Rose's maiden name is Gulotta. Godparents: Angelo and Vincenza Trombatore. Lucia was born this morning. The number 18 refers to the time. It says "born this morning at about 18 hours." Technically, this is 6 PM, and not 6 AM, which makes it seem that the birth was actually on the evening before the date of the baptism and not technically "this morning," as the record states.

Thanks so much to both of you. Erudita, so the child was born on February 27, correct? Good to hear from you.

I disagree. In my opinion the time used is the Italian one. At the coordinates of Corleone, on February 28, the sun sets at about 17:53 (= 24 italian time). So hour 18 (italian time) is 6 hours before and then 7 minutes before noon.
