Post by tarheel56 »

Hi! I need a translation for the marriage record of Jacobus Marchello-Maria Galasso-Pletto on the top left page.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=442658

Thanks in advance!

Domenico's surname is Ruffatto which is found in the town. After it is Jola, which would be Iola. Not sure if it is another surname, not currently in the town, or if it refers to a place such as Iola, a village in Montese (Emilia-Romagna): also wondering if Maddalena's surname could be Brunasso, found in the town.

Date of marriage in the parish church Jan 31, 1826. One of the banns was on the 27th and resulted in no impediments to the marriage. I think there was another bann on the 20th.

Witnesses: Guglielmo Galasso of deceased Domenico and GiovannBattista Morozzo (?) Battaglino

Marchello, Marcello, and even Marcella are current surnames in the town.

My guess is that is not "Iola", but "Sola": "sola una habita proclamatione" "after only one bann".
I admit the letter doesn't look so much like an "S", though it's different from the other "J"'s.

Thanks , Pippo. You are correct. Definitely not a J or I.
