I do not know the correct spelling of the words in the subject line, but phonetically they sounded like:
Bod - Aise and Nap - le - tan
The context seemed to be an area of Italy where they or their parents were born which mostly was Sicily (Racalmuto in Agrigento) and Bari (Altamura). Does anyone know the true meanings and spellings of these words?

What you're spelling as "bod aise" sounds to me how my dad pronounced Barese when he spoke about his paternal heritage being from Bari. The word Barese refers to a native or inhabitant of Bari. Bari supposedly has a dialect all its own but its natives don't put a "d" in the word. I think the d was put there by children of Italian immigrants like my dad who listened to their immigrant parents speak about the city or area of Italy from which they came. I don't recall ever hearing my grandfather say it; only my dad who was born in Manhattan.
