Hi all,
I have a question regarding the birth of my second great grandmother, Maria Cristina Perri. Her 1870 birth record from Parenti (which can be seen here: https://www.italiangenealogy.com/forum/topic/53485) says her mother did not consent to being named. Furthermore, her 1887 marriage record to my 2x great grandfather Rocco Mazzuca says that her parents were unknown. However, when she remarried as a widow in New York in 1905 after immigrating, her mother was listed as "Rosa Perri," with no father listed. Furthermore, my great-grandfather Pietro Giovanni Mazzuca's 1910 immigration record to the US lists his prior residence living with "grandmother Rosa" in Parenti (this could not be his paternal grandmother, who was named Vittoria Saraco, and died in Badolato in 1902).
The woman who reported and assisted in Cristina's birth in 1870 was named Maria Mancuso, aged 56, who's named as the daughter of the late Vincenzo. Interestingly enough, I found an 1849 birth record from Parenti for a Rosa Perri, born to Palmo Perri and Maria Mancuso, daughter of a Vincenzo. Is it likely that this Rosa Perri gave birth out of wedlock to Cristina? Have I successfully identified Cristina's mother?

Re: Identifying Maria Cristina Perri's mother
It's a good intuition, and I think it's likely.
The birth record says the baby was born "nella casa di sua abitazione", i.e. at Maria Mancuso's home.
However, you can't be sure.
You'd need to check the church records, for baptism, and for possible "stati dell'anime", a sort of censuses, that would show who were the members of family.

Thanks for the replies. It seems to make sense. I'll just have to find the church records for Parenti.
