Marriage and baptismal record - help please.
Marriage and baptismal record - help please.
Hello, My Name is Joseph Lukas
I am trying to follow my Italian routes from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada back to Racalmuto.
I have two documents that I needed help gathering information from please.
The first document (#360) is a Baptismal record for Racalmuto. I believe it is a record of Iganzio (Ingaticy) Miceli with his parents as Gaetano Miceli And Maria Scime. I was wondering if there is any more information on it. I.e. parents age? relatives? and full Birth date. Also how is Gaetano spelt on the record?
The second Document (#22) is what I believe is the marriage record of Gaetano and Maria Scime from 1877 Racalmuto. I am looking for information about their marriage Date, their occupations/ their parents and if there is any grandparents listed. Are both set of Parents from Racalumto?
i.e. For Gaetano - his parents, I am having a hard time reading their names i.e. Cr_____ Miceli and ______ Facciponti. For Maria I think it is Ignatici Scime and ____ Rizzo.
Any Help would be much appreciated.
Thank you Either way.

Date of birth is the same as the previous record, i.e. Jan 30, 1890. There's no more info. The record is in Latin, so the name is spelled "Cajetanus"joeylukas wrote: 03 Jul 2023, 00:26 .

@joeylucas
You're in very good hands here with Pippo, for sure, but interesting to me that you're probably well familiar with the Fratellanza Racalmutese Italian Club on Murray St., in Hamilton. I went there myself when I visited in 2019. My story is a long one (and would probably not interest you in the least - my Sicilian ancestor is NOT from Racalmuto), but I will say that I ventured to enter that establishment at that point in time.
I was somewhat intimidated to do so because I was a complete stranger and there were these older Italian men (clearly, "locals") who were playing cards, etc. Also, I entered "uninvited". However, one gentleman engaged me and asked about my curiosity with the place. I told him that my previously unknown grandfather lived in the neighborhood (Strachan St.) and probably frequented the establishment. He took pity on me and bought me a beer and we chatted a bit. Very kind (although he, too, especially intimidated me).
Anyway, good luck in your research.

Re: Marriage and baptismal record - help please.
Wow!, that is awesome.
Pippo, Thank you for the translation/ information as I will add it to my notes.
myclayton1, I actually have not been to the Fratellanza Racalumotese Italian club. I will ask my parents about and may visit it soon. Also, I get it. I use to work in Hamilton as a medic, the people their are rough and intimidating but also very kind and friendly.
Tessa78 - Thank you for researching and translating those documents.
Thank you again, Have a great day.
