I've been trying to find Gregorio Pelligra (born 1871 and married to Mattia Scala) death year but no luck.
I couldn't access 1915 - 1929 as familysearch kept saying it couldn't load the images....
Here is the marriage of Concetto Pelligra in May 1920 (#85)
At the time of this marriage, Gregorio was deceased. This narrows your search to records earlier than the marriage date.
Here is the extract of death for Gregorio Pelligra (b. 1871)
He died 18 January 1915 in Pachino.
This record is from the Allegati of marriage of his son Sebastiano Pelligra to Angela Scala
Gregorio was 44 at the time of his death. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... at=2178032

Wow, Wow, and Wow!!! This is fantastic. You are truly the best, G. I don’t now how I missed the 1838 marriage record? I definitely went through all those indices twice. I’ll just put it down to tiredness and blurry vision – not to mention a very sore arm from all the scrolling - ouch. Well, on the upside, I’m so happy that I had the birth place of Spaccaforno correct. (I'm sure that helped a little ) I couldn’t think what else it could be but self-doubted because of the distance. Those processetti are certainly a “gold mine”. Brilliant!!! So all your findings here have taken us back another two generations. (The new names “Saverio” and “Diego” will make life easier in the possibility of going back further. I had noticed records pertaining to Diego Piligra and Vincenza Novella (maybe when I was looking at the Latin marriage records or records in Spaccaforno?) but of course at that time didn’t know they were in this history.)
I'm going to look for the original death record because I notice that there is a couple of discrepancies with the information that we have already located. In stead of his wife being noted as Giovanna Cavarra, her name is written as Giovanna di Mari (unless she died first and he remarried - I'd have to go thru reread the info here). His mother's name looks to be Anfante? not Infanti. Death Records in Sicily are known for containing errors though.
Death No 14 – Giuseppe Pilegra (except looks like Pliria?)
Registered in Pachino on 8 March 1833 and died the same day at 8 pm in his own home.
He was 40 yo (c.1793), the husband of Giovanna di Mari born in Spaccaforno, a villico (tenant farmer), living in Pochino, the son of the deceased Saverio and deceased Giovanni Anfanti. https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 68/LmOr4Vq
(I'd say that Anfanti is a mispelling and it should have read Infanti. I'll see if I can find Giovanna Cavarra's death record, if we haven't already found it.)
As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians. The earlies...
