Translation of church death record Giuseppe Guidotti

Hello could someone help with the translation of this church death record Giuseppe Guidotti Father should be Battista and mother Anna Guccini.

I was also curious I just happened across this record looking for something else in the area, and found the death record of my grandfather's brother in the one year that was online. I had never saw a northern church record online in this area. This is the parish my family attended, but only 1 year exists ...1861 is there a reason they would have scanned in just the one year?

Hi Diego

The record is dated Oct 12,1861. It indicates that Giuseppe died on the day above but in the month of Sept. at 2 in the night. The only Sacrament he had received was Confession/Penance. He was a colono/tenant farmer, age 19. A native of Gaggio. You have the correct parents. It also says he was buried on the 11th of October in the cemetery of this town of Gaggio. It also gives the declarants ages as 50 and 45. I believe these ages are for the parents (as I see an abbreviation for the word “above,” so I don’t believe these ages apply to the witnesses who signed the document.

* I do think there is a mistake with the dates in the record. I don’t believe Giuseppe died on Sept 12th and wasn’t buried until Oct11th-one day short of a month later.

I also have no idea why only one year of death records is available for this parish. Historically, possibly the records for other years may have been destroyed by some natural disaster or other occurrence which took place in this area at the time.

I have the Parents baptisms from the parish, and their ages are close to aligning... both are interestingly off by 2 years. This is the one parish that actually responded to my requests and in a day or two I had their baptisms and marriage record (the parents that is).

You just never know where church records are concerned. Years ago, a late cousin of mine visited the ancestral town of my paternal grandmother in Matera Province. He discovered that the current church had been built over the old church, which had been buried by an earthquake or some other natural disaster. When the old church went under, so did the records that had been housed there. At the time, copies were not kept by the diocese. So, unless you find some 1700 church records that were mixed in with the processetti records, that I was fortunate enough to find on microfilms years ago, you can't get any early info about your ancestry. It wasn't until 1917, I think the year was, that the dioceses started keeping copies of the records from the individual churches in their dioceses.

Anyway, I'm glad you were fortunate to have gotten the church records that you did from that parish in Gaggio.
