I need help!

hello,
my name is jacob my grandfathers name was Thomas Fillipponi..apparently he changed his last name..which made it extremely difficult to find any ancesters but i found out his last name was fillipino at bitrth from a census. Well thats not where im stuck. My grandfather's father's name is Camillo(charles) and i found the ship manifest with his and his mothers names unfortunatly the last name is Filippone which i believe could have been the family name before it was changed on entry into the U.S. now i am trying to find Camillo's father and i cant seem to find any birth records in italy ..i know from the ship manifest that they were from the town of Nocciano in the province of Pescara in the Abruzzo region of Italy ive written letters and got a reply but unfortunatly i dont read italian but somone who can read it (a man at our local pizza place) said that they couldnt find it because the fact that filippone is such a popular name in Italy. somone please help me!

unfortunatly i do not know my great grandfather's exact birth date but if my math is right he should have been born in about 1905 in nocciano, italy his name was camillo fillipone yes his mother's name was Michelina D'Amato was his mother and i believe that anthony might have been his father's name camillo did have brothers named domenico, alberico, and a few others. I am trying to find more info about Camillo and im trying to find out his fathers real name and what happened to him.
