Let me know if your Savino's came from Cortale in Catanzaro Province. I have pictures of at least one Savino who emmigrated from Cortale and ended up in Chicago with his brother. Their names were Antonio and Raffaele. They were cousins of my grandmother.k.renneker wrote:Thanks for all your efforts. Antonio and Catherine didn't arrive in the US until June of 1880, so they won't be on that census. I now have this family in 1900, 1910, and 1930. I had searched 1920 page by page and their house was skipped.
I just sent a request for a copy of Antonio's death record. I'm hoping to get some useful information from that. (Thank you SOOO much for pointing me to that...I hadn't realized that the MA Archives had put their index online)
After that I will get Joseph's marriage record from RI, hopefully it will have his mother's maiden name on it.
Then I'm going to try and find Catherine's death record. I know she's alive in 1917 because I have her entry in the Boston Directory for that year. I need to go to the vital records office to see if I can find her death after that.
Thanks again...all the help and advice has been much appreciated, and has given me new insight in how move foward with research on this family as well as my other Italian branch.

Re: Surname Savino
Well....
I finally got Antonio Savino's death record in the mail today...
Good news: I now have his parents' names: Giuseppe Savino and Anna Vita
Bad news: his place of birth is simply listed as Italy. grrr...I already knew that much.
Any Ideas where to go from here? I didn't find anything on familysearch.
Although I'm very glad to have his parents' names this didn't narrow things down as I had hoped it would.
Thanks!

Re: Surname Savino
I realize that this thread is almost ten years old now, but I'm fairly certain that the infant Maria Savino (b. 1880) is my trisnonna, and that's really super cool. She went to Canada in 1894 and married my trisnonno in 1895, and on the marriage record her mother is listed as Caterina Nasini (Narini?) de B........
Anyway, I'm also excited to have found this thread because if indeed this is my trisnonna's family, it helps me a lot!
