SS Mendoza Naples to New York (Rocca)

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

SS Mendoza Naples to New York (Rocca)

Post by JessicaCall26 »

Hello I am looking for information about my Great Great Grandfather's immigration to America.

His name was Vincenzo Rocca Born in 1891 in Scigliano, Cosenza, Italy. I have heard he traveled on the SS Mendoza when he was 19.

Does anyone know where I could view the passenger records from the Mendoza?

Thanks,

Jessica

I suspect he traveled at age 17 arriving in 1910 on the ss Mendoza at NYC. Go to www.ellisisland.org and look him up. He is passenger #5. His place of last residence in Italy was Petrona. Look up the manifest for his other parfticulars. =Peter=

Here is a manifest for Vincenzo Rocca arriving Feb 1910 from Naples on the SS Venezia. He is a 19 year old shoemaker, leaving his father Francesco in Petrona, Italy, and going to his uncle Filipo Rocca in Auburn, NY.

He is on actual line 5, handwritten line 4.
