trying to find manifest for Zucchi

I've been searching the Ellis Island records and can't locate the ship manifest for this..

Giovanni Zucchi
born 11/06/1864
arrived 06/10/1893- about 25 yrs old.
from Italy.

(He married Raina or Rosina Armeno according to census. not sure if they were married in Italy or USA.)

There is a manifest for him on ellisisland.org website under Giovanni Zucchi out of Cherbourg France on the SS Majestic as passenger #1 arriving July 14, 1910 at NYC. He was aged 25. =Peter=

Here is a passport application for Giovanni Zucchi and his wife Rosina. Application in 1921 for a visit to relatives in Italy. His birthdate is Nov. 6, 1864, and he was born in Naples. He immigrated on June 10, 1893.

BONUS!!! There is a picture of Giovanni and Rosina on the second page of the application at the bottom and a physical description at the top (above the witness statement)

If you can find the ship manifest- I'm hoping to find his parent's names... (I am at a dead end.) His sister is Elisa Zucchi-Della Valle.

Well, it's not the one we were looking for
but I did locate the manifest for Giovanni and Rosa Zucchi in 1921 when they returned from their visit to Italy. It provides info about date and location of their Naturalization...

Still no success finding the manifest
but stumbled across the 1930 Census for Rosa Zucchi (last name was written and transcribed as Bucchi). She is a widow, still living and renting in the house of Angelo Armeno. With her lives her niece, Martha Ricozzi (another surname in the family tree?)

I was looking at the death record earlier but didn't post it until you decided it was the correct one. I guess if Rosa was 10 years younger on her census records it would just make sense that John was younger too .

Yes, there are a number of discrepancies with dates on their records. The Naturalization Index card for Giovanni has January 6, 1864, not November, for his brithdate!


I think it's great that you were able to find her death record with the names of her parents!
