di Lorenzo, Raucci matrimoni
di Lorenzo, Raucci matrimoni
http://italiangenealogy.com/Forums/view ... renzo.html
I have posted a link for a previous thread for reference.
I strongly believe this is a sibling. However there seem to be some discrepancies that I will have to deal with.
I need a better translation than I can do for this new document. It has an extra page of many names which I can't figure out.
I have a film with many of these Atti di Matrimonio documents. Is there a format I can follow to try to translate the other ones? It looks like a lot of additional info over the more current Atti's.
Help! Please.
Thank you.
Jim

Re: di Lorenzo, Raucci matrimoni
The right side is the NOTICE of the celebration of canonical marriage (church wedding)
It seems to have taken place on 4 Feb 1836.

Re: di Lorenzo, Raucci matrimoni
Hi T.
Can you help me prove (or disprove) this is my GGGM's sister?
*same father
*could be same mother (Irene Tescione?)
*would it be likely to have 2 Maria's with different middle names? I've seen it but not often.
Deep down inside I just know it is my GGGgrandparents. Is it wishful thinking?
Thank you.

Re: di Lorenzo, Raucci matrimoni
Hi Jim,
I couldnt read the second name on the mother...but looking at it in the context of "Irene" I would certainly say it was so.

Re: di Lorenzo, Raucci matrimoni
It also looks like the last name should be di Laurienzo...

Re: di Lorenzo, Raucci matrimoni
You are making my day. Don't stop.
Botton line opinion. Am I on the right track?
That misspelling?? of the surname got my attention. I never saw it spelled that way. Have you?
Thanks,
Jim

Re: di Lorenzo, Raucci matrimoni
I would definitely say you are on the right track
As for the name...your experience (and mine) demonstrates that these records can have many variations in handwriting, spelling, etc. I don't think that at the time the records were written anyone ever expected them to be viewed with the detail we give them...
Soooo - it makes our journey through them that much less "routine"

Re: di Lorenzo, Raucci matrimoni
I'm not sure if your page 2 is related to the documents on page 1.
If they are....there isn't much info in them...priests names, etc.

Re: di Lorenzo, Raucci matrimoni
So, reading between the lines of your answer, I should accept the addition of the i in this generation and then allow it to be dropped in future generations?
I can accept that. But, that was a very non-committal answer.
Thank you, Tessa.
As always, your help is appreciated.

Re: di Lorenzo, Raucci matrimoni
It sounds like it may not be necessary to scan the 2nd page? Just look for any marginal notes?
That will be a time saver.

Re: di Lorenzo, Raucci matrimoni
Depends...
Look with a keen eye at the second page...when in doubt - scan it!
There are no "hard and fast" rules here
Did you notice the "o" at the end of Raucci?

IF the rest of the information (dates, parents, spouse, etc.) fits...oilman19 wrote:So, reading between the lines of your answer, I should accept the addition of the i in this generation and then allow it to be dropped in future generations?

I didn't question the "o". Should I have? Is it likely to get dropped on future documents? I'm not familiar with the name.
