Schettino family of Pescopagano

Hello,

I am trying to research the genealogy of the Schettino family of Pescopagano (Potenza). This is my wife's family, and she really knows nothing about her history. Her father is Gerardo (Erminagildo) Schettino. His mother was Maria Giovanna Schettino, who died in 2000 or 2001. Gerardo's surname was his mother's maiden name. He is either uncertain of who his father was, or is unwilling to tell.

I am usually pretty good at building out a family line, but this line was me stumped. Any advice? I am in contact with the family over there, but they kinda stay silent on the subject. I don't want to offend them, but would certainly like to help my wife with her genealogy.
