Finding out parents - D'Amore

Post by FDAmore »

Hello,

It's been a long while since being here, back from my early 20's. I even had to create a new name since my old name's email address has long been deleted (FDooks).

I was hoping to receive a little help if possible.

I've been trying to find a Census from 1900-1920 that shows Anthony D'Amore listed on it. He was born in 1884 (in Italy) and passed on 6-29-25 (in Buffalo, NY). He was married to Agnes Petrino, to which they had four children (Sylvia, Frank, Frances, and Marie). The area should be either Niagara Falls or Buffalo, NY.

---

Separate request as well if possible please. I have a 1910 census that shows Frances (Francesca) Petrino, maiden name DiGiacomo. It shows that she was widowed at the time, however just a few years prior she had a child. I have not been able to locate her husband and was hoping someone may be able to help (1900 census if possible). In 1910, she was in the household of the Tomasulos, and had a few children (Daniel, Agnes, Pascual, and Angela),

As always, the help is much appreciated. I've received so much help in the past and I am very grateful for learning more about my ancestors.

Thank you -
Frank

Hello suanj :D !
There were some interesting discussions back in 2005 on this post
Perhaps there are a few more records online in the past 5 years that may help

Nov 05, 2005 9:02 Ok I was able to obatin for more!

Anthony D'Amore met Agnes in New York. They were married in St. Anthony's Church in Buffalo, NY around 1912. All 4 of their children were born in Buffalo, NY. Anthony was born in Italy. My Aunt said he was born in Brutsee?(sp). (1885ish). Anthony did not have any brothers or sisters. His parents were killed in an Earthquake around the Brutsee area.

reading again the old post, especially the above reply, and by WWI draft registration card, now knowing the birthyear, my idea, now, it is that the arrival could be:

First Name: Antonio
Last Name: D'Amore
Ethnicity: Italian Italy
Last Place of Residence: Brusciano
Date of Arrival: Apr 02, 1903
Age at Arrival: 21y Gender: M Marital Status: M
Ship of Travel: Archimede
Port of Departure: Napoli
Manifest Line Number: 0009

Hello!

suanj - you are a human resource! I was looking at this record from ellisisland yesterday before your post and I was scratching my head wondering if that was the same Anthony. Under the field where it says "going to relatives, etc," do you happen to know what that says in there?
Also, finding the WW1 draft card is great! That has to be him because it even has Agnes E as his wife. They did live on 7th as well as I have the picture of their home. The only thing that is puzzling me is the gravestone shows 1884 as the birthdate.

Jonnyonthespot - I am not certain about that one. I did view that image before on ancestry.com however none of those names look familiar. Possible though?! I can ask my Aunt if those names sound familiar.

Pink - Thank you also! I cant view that image now while I am at work (taking forever to load), however I will view when I get home. Those names all look very familiar though.
(((edited))) - That is a GREAT find. I do believe this is correct. I am a little puzzled because of the two Mary names (one daughter was Angela), however the birth dates of Agnes, Donato, and baby Mary are all correct. I will add that last name as well to the search in case records are under that name as well. Thank you!!

As always, everyone here has been so helpful. I need to contact NYS to try to obtain a death certificate for Anthony and some other family members. I just hope those will have more info such as parents names.

I visited the gravesite today and they provided me with index cards as that is all they keep on file. The index cards shows the exact date of death, the receipt for the gravesite, and some records show the cause of death. I learned a little more today, but gathering the puzzle pieces is such a good time!

Thank you all again and if anything else comes up, please share! - Frank

Hello,

Does anyone have any tips for me in finding the passenger record for Pasquale Petrino (immigrated into NY in 1885)? Ellis Island was after 1892 and I couldnt locate anything on ancestry.com

Also, shouldnt there be a death notice for Frances(ca) Petrino (DiGiacomo)? I'm not certain of the death date, however I didnt come across anything relevant.

My searches tonight are coming back poor! Darn!

Thanks - Frank
