I am confused as to the last name of the mother of Antonino LoPiccolo.
I have seen it as Cottone and as Annello/Anello. Could someone tell me what is to the left of the baptism in regards to Rosa Annello? I'm hoping that will clarify my confusion.
In some docs she is Cottone and in others she is Anello. Her father's surname was Anello and her mother's was Cottone. Could she have kept her mother's maiden name as well as her father's surname? Was that common?
Hi,
just a my suggestion:
the mother was Cottone and Annello, the father, no recognizing the birth of Rosa; so Rosa had Cottone surname; but in further time, Annello recognized Rosa as own daughter, so Rosa had Annello surname and the surname amendment was made by court sentence..
It could be possible???

So then if I understand you right Rosa was possibly born out of wedlock and accepted at some further point by her father. If I should find her baptism would it tell me if she were born out of wedlock?
Thank you for your suggestion, that does make sense.
it is possible that they was both unmarried, and they married after the Rosa birth that had mother surname in the birth act, and in the marriage act, the father recognizing also the baby... that is possible...
also it is possible that the father was married with another woman, and recognizing the baby after some years...
However Rosa was recognized by father, and had Cattone at birth, but in successive date, by recognizement, she had, sure, Annello surname..
