Multiple Last names of grandparents

Post by sunndance1018 »

Looking for my grandparents birth and marriage records and any other information that I can find on them. This is the problem, Ellis Island Records Feb1910 indicate last name is DiLanzo current name in US is DeLanzo, Pantaleone, he listed home town of Bucchianico, Abruzzi Also my uncle told us that the family name used to be deluca. possibly Her name is Giovanna Zuccarino her town is listed as Atri, Teramo DOB for him is 1885 and her is 1886 Any suggestions. I have one other name that I can only find marriage in the US Giovanni's brother Camille Zuccarino Year of birth is 1880
and no other records for him other than he married in US in 1908.. Ideas from anyone. I am planning to come to area in the spring would love to find out as much as I can prior to then. Thanks

Hi, yes the right italian surname spelling is DI LANZO( with space); Pantaleone was born the 27 Jul 1885( by WWII draft registration card); when he immigrated in USA with Giovina wife( no Giovanna but Giovina) the final destination was Pittsburgh, joining at Antonio Di Lanzo father in Pittsburgh; Pantaleone left the mother Carmela in Bucchianico; on the ship's manifest the birthplace of Giovina/Giovanna is also Bucchianico ( but it could be a error)...
Pantaleone was already in USA from 1905 to 1909, so the marriage must be around 1909/10 in Bucchianico.

You can request the birth certificate as a well the marriage certificate, writing:
Ufficio di Stato Civile
P.zza Roma n. 32
66011 Bucchianico (CH)
Italy

email: statocivile @ comune.bucchianico.ch.it ( NO SPACES)

helpful form letter:

abt Camillo Zuccarino, he was born in Bucchianico also the 24 Jul 1879; naturalized in 1914, married at Beatrice, no maiden name on naturalization; the surname is mispelled in Zugerino(!) http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/2739/camillo.jpg
Camillo emigrated in first time in Toronto, Canada and after back in USA as you can read by yourself;

the 1920 census:
1920 United States Federal Census
about Camillo Zuccarino
Name: Camillo Zuccarino
[Camillo Zuccarini]

Home in 1920: Cecil, Washington, Pennsylvania
Age: 40
Estimated birth year: abt 1880
Birthplace: Italy
Relation to Head of House: Self (Head)

Spouse's name: Beatrice Zuccarino
Father's Birth Place: Italy
Mother's Birth Place: Italy
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Sex: Male
Home owned: Own
Year of Immigration: 1901
Able to read: Yes
Able to Write: Yes

Household Members: Name Age
Camillo Zuccarino 40

Tony Zuccarino 8
Lucy Zuccarino 7
Mary Constance Zuccarino 5
Rose Zuccarino 2
[2 4/12]
Marian Zuccarino 0
[0/12]

Beatrice immigrated in 1909, so the marriage was between 1909 and 1912 abt... in Pennsylvania most probably..
hoping helpful,

Hey suanj :D !
You beat me this time!
Great record finds
Thank you so much for the confirmation of Pantaleone's last name.
I wasn't sure if he had signed his 1917 Declaration of Intention.
If his wife Giovina was from a different comune would there also be a record in Bucchianico?
Thank you!

I believe that Giovina/Giovanna was born also in Bucchianico, because the brother, Camillo was born in Bucchianico; however if the topic author write in Bucchianico civil records office, sure will obtain the births and marriage certificate...
sorry Valarie, we posted at same time... hehehe!
Hugs,

Thanks everyone, that was great detective work!! So how would I find out if other brothers came to the US? That is what we heard I only found one Camillo Zuccarine Giovina brother. No One has said anything about Pantaleone father being here? That would be Antonio DiLanzo? Couldn't find his name on Ellis Island. I will write to Provinces it Italy to get more information would they supply me with Brothers and sisters? of either of grandparents?

In addition to writing to the comune for records, you could also research your family's records on microfilm.
Your nearest Family History Center can order records for Bucchianico on microfilm.
The cost is about $5.50 mo (rent), you’ll need to go to the center to order & view them.
