narducci

Post by danielle1118 »

I am researching my ggf Anthony Joseph Narducci b. June 9 1892 in Buffalo, NY. I have been unable to find his birth certificate and have even searched baptism records. I believe I found his parents marriage certificate which states they were Joseph Narducci and Pepina(Josephine) Giallella. I can't find naturalization records either. any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome! :-)

Can you provide approx. dates of birth for Joseph and Pepina? Were they born in US or Italy?

Did Anthony have any other siblings? Names?

Any additional facts will help us help you!

Anthony had 2 siblings Victoria b 1888 (Buffalo) and Gus b. 1894 (Dunkirk NY)
According to their marriage certificate Joseph was born 1858 and Pepina 1870 in Italy. Joseph's parents are listed as Joseph Narducci and Anna Marie Bertone(i) and Pepina's parents were listed as Joseph Giallella and Anna Marie Ricigliano.

I have located a 1900 US Census for Dunkirk, NY (near Buffalo)

It is for the St. Mary's Orphan Asylum, in Dunkirk(town)

Listed is Tony Narduci, born June 1892 in New York, parents born in Italy.
Also listed below Tony is Costantino Narduci, born May 1894. Maybe this is "Gus".

Is this Tony your GGF?

If it is, did you contact this orphanage?

Possible 1910 Census record for Victoria Narducci (spelled here with a "y")

Victoria is age 20, living in Dunkirk, NY, as a domestic with a private family (Nelson Palmer on Washington Avenue)

thanks,
I have tried to locate the orphanage records to no avail. I have tried the Buffalo Diocese, Sisters of St Joseph and St Elizabeth Ann Seton. I haven't had any success.

You may already be aware of this site, but I thought I would post it for you.

Maybe there is something there that can give you additional direction...

Thank You,
This is the point I am stuck. It doesn't give their birthplace, and I can't find immigration or naturalization to get me further back than this point. Based on some other information I have collected, I believe Pepina's mother's maiden name is Ricigliano. Is there another avenue, besides immigration and naturalization records, or Anthony's birth record(which I also can't find) that I should look at? I don't have enough information at this point to begin searching Italian records

You could request a copy of Anthony's Social Security application if he had a SS#. This application usually has the name of parents, and the applicant's birthplace...but you already know that much.

Did you try searching for the birth record of Victoria? Was she also born in New York? Have you asked for a search for birth record at this site...

Early ship manifests have little information about place of origin other than country, and don't often have a person/address listed as a destination. So finding a manifest for Joseph (Giuseppe) Narducci probably wouldn't help. :-(

I believe that Joseph ( Giuseppe) Narducci coming from Sant'Angelo in Grotte, hamlet of Santa Maria del Molise town, in Campobasso province, Molise region IT; the only probable immigration record is:

New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
about G Narducci Name: G Narducci
Arrival Date: 17 Apr 1882
Birth Year: abt 1855
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/Race/Nationality: Italian
Place of Origin: Italy
Port of Departure: Naples, Italy
Destination: United States of America
Port of Arrival: New York
Port Arrival State: New York
Port Arrival Country: United States
Ship Name: Elysia
Search Ship Database: Search the Elysia in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database

the birth year is 1855, however can be a probable record...
