the midwife, Vittoria Tancredi, 70, made the declaration and presented the child at the town hall on 3 December 1899.
The midwife make the presentation because the father was far away.

Can you read the words after the word perche and before the word Letto. I am trying to figure out the reason why the father was absent and couldn't make the presentation of the infant.

thanks once again... i am curious as well where father was? i dont believe he was in america yet. i was confused when it had the midwifes name where i usually find the fathers!! great stuff thanks

This record doesn't say he was in America. I am having trouble deciphering the words after the word perche-looks like "sotto le (aruzio???)" I just can't decipher that last word correctly at all. I will continue to try to figure this out, if someone else doesn't do so sooner. Normally these records say he (the father) was absent because he was far from the city, but this record doesn't say that.
