Editing posts

Post by johnnyonthespot »

The new board does not permit editing a post after some period of time has elapsed.

Some people think this is a good idea; personally, I hate it. :D

Any chance this can be changed?

The old forum did not permit editing posts at all

Problem is that when people change or delete a posting in an older topic, the topic can become very difficult to understand.

Currently the time to edit and delete a post is set to 60 minutes. What period would you suggest?

Sure it did! I did it all the time and I know others did as well.

Honestly, it is not so much that I want to edit old posts. I often go back to old posts of mine to copy paragraphs into a new post on another subject. As you know, links in posts are usually displayed in shortened format. If you try to highlight a paragraph which contains a link and then paste it into another message, the link will be broken and not work. However, if you open the old post for editing, you can highlight/copy the original text with complete links and then paste that into a new message.

It's not a big deal; I guess I can live with 60 minutes.

Just an FYI :)

My recent experience here on the new site is that I could not edit a post if someone had replied to it - So in that case the 60 minute allowance does not apply, am I correct?
