Hi, I was wondering if someone is able to help me.
I live in Australia, and I am trying to find my great grandfathers birth certificate.
His name is Vincent Pecaric, but was born Vincent (Vicko) Petcharitch (I think). He was born in Trieste, Trieste, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy on the 24th of February 1892 and it is proving extremely difficult to find his birth certificate.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Kim

Have you tried writing to the comune and requesting a copy?
Ufficio dello Stato Civile
Comune di Trieste
passo Costanzi 2 - piano II
34121 Trieste (TS)
ITALY
web: http://www.retecivica.trieste.it/
possible email: bandelli@comune.trieste.it
You can find sample letters here:
http://www.circolocalabrese.org/resourc ... /index.asp
http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html
Birth/marriage/death photocopies of original registry pages are called: Copia integrale dell'atto di Nascita/Matrimonio/Morte
Birth/marriage/death computer-generated extracts are: Estratto Per Riassunto Per Atto Di Nascita/Matrimonio/Morte
Also, if you haven't done so already, try the Australia National Archives. Go to http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/record ... index.aspx and click "Search Now". On the next page, enter your grandfather's surname in the Keywords box and click Search. Australian immigration & Naturalization records I have seen in the past are very complete and always include a copy of the applicant's birth certificate. Sometimes these records are already digitized and available for instant download/viewing; other times you must order a copy for a reasonable fee.
