Lian in Italian means??

Hi...

My Italian dictionary doesn't have that word... and my computer translation software doesn't recognise it either...

Can you put it in a sentence? ... or mention what the sentence is that you are reading this from...

May I ask what computer software program you use? I have been considering buying one. I have been limping by with Alta Vista's Babelfish, and an Italian dictionary. (And now thanks to wldspirit, a book on Italian verb conjugations.)

Is LIAN a surname??

The software came with my Mac computer as part of the package deal. It translates in 40 languages... even traditional Chinese to English...

It is called Sherlock - Translation... "content provided by Systran"...

I don't know if mine is like the one you can find on the internet...

But like many translators... it can make a mess of your message... I have used other free translation services... and always go back to my Sherlock... it works best for me.

I do speak Italian (luckily) and have to edit anything I translate as well.

I also use the CASSELLS Italian-English English-Italian dictionary... (I have both the pocket book and the home version)... The big book also contains obsolete terms and phrases...

I took Italian in high school thinking it would be an easy credit.... HA!!

Passed by a hair... my dialect really got in the way... and was just too shy to speak out loud...

But years later when I saw documents from the Family History Film... that was it.... I just had to figure out the script and the contents... and am still learning...

Luckily we have suanj...

then it is for certain Gian Pietro Casassa
Gian Pietro is the first name. More often it is one word in which case it becomes Giampietro (with 'm' instead of 'n').
