I finally have my gmothers birth & death certificate. It states that Felicia Giancola's mother was Vincenza Marinaro & father Giuseppe Giancola. It does not give any place & date of birth details for her parents. If Felicia was born 1906, then they were pehaps born 1890 (give or take)
My question is : 1) now how do I find details for Vincenza Marinaro & Giuseppe Giancola (especially without their birth dates)
2) I know Vincenza Marinaro immigrated to America & there is Ellis Island records for that name but how do I know it is her? She married Giuseppe in America, can I get these records?
3) on my gmother Felicia Giancola death certificate it says "ed era VEDOVA GIANCOLA ANTONIO". would that be her husband? what does the VEDOVA mean?
To find a marriage record in the US you need to know the state the marriage occured in and possibly the county depending on the year. Unless you are lucky and it is in one of the databases on ancestry.com
The death certificate you have. What government issued it?
There are 6 Vincenza Marinaro listed in Ellis Island. Do you know the town or year of immigration. YOu have to look at the manifests and read each one for pertinent information.
Suanj why did you think it was strange my gmothers husband name was listed on her death certificate?. Is this not usually done. I also applied for my fathers birth certificate (1935) because we do not know who his father is. It was not listed on it, only his mother.
I have checked the Vincenza Marinaro listed at Ellis Island but I do not know how to confirm which is her. Most proably the one who came from Mistretta with Sebastiano, Carmela, Franceso & ? Angela Rampullo to stay with Giuseppe & Felice, cant exactly make out where they stayed.I was told Vincenza had some brothers in New York or New Jersey. How can I obtain census records?
Can I request other records for Giuseppe Giancola, even without his date of birth, he was from Castelpetroso & would they have any info about his wife.
Sebastiano Marinaro and Angela Rampullo was going to stay with their son Giuseppe and daughter Felice on 215 East 10 (?) Street in New York... and as for the rest of the family is says they would be staying with "the same persons..."
In time, I am sure someone could do a census look up for you here at this forum.
Hi Silvana: Vincenza Marinaro & Giuseppe Giancola was relatives of Felicia Giancola; Felicia Giancola was married of Antonio Giancola? same surname? perhaps my english no good, why I understand so... about the "strange" is why same surname Felicia and Antonio spouses... regards, suanj

Suanj sorry I see what you mean. It's not too uncommon in my family, they seemed to marry 1st cousins or other relatives!!!
g'day mfjp thank you for clearing it up. It never occured to me that Angela would be married to Sebastiano. Would she travel under her maiden name ?
Thank you wildspirit I truely wished I recognised a name. I will keep them & hopefully someone will jump out. Can you check for marriage records it was just a chance: Giuseppe Giancola & Vincenza Marinaro were apparently married in America.
checked into the census.........I found nothing of interest.......we need more identifying information......if you come up with something else, let us all know and maybe we can track your elusive family!!!!!!!!

One of the most fun things that I discovered in my research was finding my look alike ancestor, Prince Marino Caracciolo II. Don Marino descends from the Caracciolo Rossi family, one of the oldest families in Naples, that date back to 950 AD. He was born in Atripalda on 9-6-1587 and died in Naples o...
