Searching for Information on Rosario Brucato

Post by siskojnash »

I am looking for information, and perhaps siblings, of Rosario Brucato. He was born on November 28, 1875 in Sant' Agata li Battiati, Messina, Sicilia, Italy and died on March 13, 1966 in Bronx, Bronx, New York, USA. His parents were Andrea Brucato and Rasa Maria Serra. I don't have any information about them.
Rosario Brucato's wife was Carmelina "Lena" Gianni, who was born on November 2, 1874 in Messina, Messina, Sicily, Italy and died on September 9, 1970 in Yonkers, Westchester County, New York, USA. I don't know anything about her side of the family.
They had two children. One was Andrew Brucato, who was born on September 10, 1905 and died on August 30, 1989 in Bronx, Bronx, New York, USA. His wife's name was Frances Castrovinci. I have the descendants already traced in this family. Andrew did have a cousin who was also names Andrew Brucato and was also married to someone named Francis or Frances. Their son was named Frank R Brucato. His wife was Jennie L Perry. They had two daughters: Linda and Margaret.
Margaret R Brucato was born on July 22, 1959 in Huntington, West Virginia and died on February 8, 2003 in Carencro, Louisiana. Her husband was Mike Shuptrine and they had four sons: Heath, Tyler, Skylar, and Dustan.
The other child of Rosario Brucato and Carmelina Gianni was Mary Brucato. She was born around 1912 in New York. I don't know anything else about her, but have her listed in the 1920 and 1930 US Census. Thank you very much for your time.
Edit: I just found an obituary for the wife, Carmelina Gianni. According to that, she was born Carmela Giannia to Mr and Mrs. Anthony Gianni. So presumably "Giannia" was a mistake. She was married in 1906 and settled in the Bronx that year, according to the obit. She lived in Yonkers for the last 4 years of her life. She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church in Dunwoodie. She was survived by a daughter, Mrs. James (Mary) Licata and had been living with her. She had five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Andrew had three children, so Mary must have had two.

Does anyone have any ideas about this family? I found out that Mary did have two sons, Joseph Richard Licata and Russell Licata. Joseph has two daughters and Russell never married. I found out that Rosa Maria Serra is actually the name of Rosario Brucato's mother.

I guess people haven't seen anything about this family, or haven't had the time to look.

Thank you very much. I wasn't expecting to see any responses about this after this long. Heath, What was or is the name of Linda Brucato's husband, the one with the last name of Setaro? Do you happen to know whether or not the families keep in touch with Brucatos from other branches of the family? I'm in touch with one of them, and he's been helping me alot with genealogical research. Do you happen to have an online tree?

Do you happen to know whether or not there might be online trees that trace this family back further? Rosario Brucato's parents were Andrea Brucato, who was born in Sant' Agata Li Battiati, Messina, Sicily. His wife was Rosa Maria Serra, who was born in 1834 in Sant' Agata, Messina Province and died in 1931 in the same town.
As far as I know, there were three boys and one girl. Francesco Brucato was born on February 2, 1874 in Sant' Agata and died on February 15, 1930 in New York. Rosario Brucato was born on November 28, 1875 in Sant' Agata and died on March 13, 1966 in the Bronx. Giuseppe Brucato was born on November 26, 1879 in Sant' Agata and died on March 23, 1965 in New York. Marietta Brucato was born in 1883 in Sant' Agata and died on March 20, 1969 in New York.
I already know about the families of Rosario and Francesco Brucato, but haven't found anything about the families of Giuseppe or Marietta Brucato, if they had any. I also haven't been able to trace the Serra family further back. Could someone be attempting to transcribe records of Sant' Agata, Messina Province, by any chance?

Thank you so much. Do you happen to have the Ellis Island document? It sounds like it has to be the right person.
