Super excited to find, but can not read!

Post by supah »

I'm hoping there's a brave and kind person here to help with the translation of my grandfather's dad's birth record.

I agree with Ann that you should try her translation to better understand the structure of the birth act for future references.
BTW Vito Antonio Sinisgalli was born to Pietro (40yo) and Maria Felicia Motta on Aug 31, 1890, in Gallicchio

THANK YOU LIVO!
Because my post went through a little bit of time before it was aprroved and I was so spazzed out to find what i found, i did more and more and more digging. My eyes are getting used to the beautiful, but somehow cryptic to my eyeballs, handwriting. The longhand numbers throw me off.
Anyhow, finding these bits, It's like a dam broke.
I found out Great-great grandpa's brother lied on a WW1 draft card about his age. I think he wanted to be drafted to go see the world. :^) I'm trying to find out what their family was like - i have found a mom/dad and 3 sons so far.
This is so much fun.
Thanks again!

Sorry, Pietro was not a peasant. He was a 'calzolaio' shoemaker/mender.

I would say my biggest challenge is the handwriting. It's very foreign to my eyes.

Here is an alphabet chart of handwritten letters found in records.
Maybe this will be of some help :-)
