Carmela Domine

Post by lindsayxx »

I have posted before on Carmela but have found more information and am still looking for more help. Carmela's maiden name I believe is Domine. I do not have a birth date on her. The last name Domino which is my family's name-was Domine when they first came to the US. I also believe her fathers name was Biogio or Biagio Domine. Her mothers name is believed to be Antonia Guligino. Carmela had a son named Biagio Domine B-Oct 1885(which is my great grandfather) They came to Ny and lived in Queens. I was also told Carmela had a sister named Nella. All from Rofrano, Italy I cant seem to find any information on Carmela in Ny but yet it is a fact she lived in Queens Ny. I wish I could find out if Carmela had any more children and if Carmela's Mother and father came to the US. If anyone could help with this I would be so happy! Thank you!

Hi, in the second trip of your Biagio, the wife name is Anna Maria and maiden name Caruso ( if I read well):

First Name: Bingio( Biagio)
Last Name: Damin (Domini)

http://www.ellisisland.org/search/shipM ... 0306%2ETIF
already in USA from 1909 to 1909; joining at brother Paolo...

Now I know that Biagio lived also in Corona, Queens, NY.. by this document:

This is great information. I thank you so much for it. I do not know Carmela's maiden last name. Her name was Carmela Domine (Domino) also. Maybe that is her maiden name and she had my GGrandfather out of wedlock or it is her married name. No one in the family seems to know anything other than her name. I guess my GGrandfather was angry with her so he didnt talk to her. So basically the only info I have on Carmela is she came from Rofrano, Italy gave birth to Biogio and lived in Queens Ny. Sadley I have no other info on her and would love to figure the puzzle out. I dont have a death date eather.

I also like to mention the Ellis Island Carmela you had found might be her but unsure. Biogio and his wife Anna had a child named Antonio he was there first child born in 1908. Maybe Carmela said he was her son when it was her grandson?

who know? by Biagio arrival in 1912, second page http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0010
he was already in USA from 1907-9;
in effects here the first trip:
First Name: Biagio
Last Name: Donino ( Domine)
Ethnicity: Italy, Italian
Last Place of Residence: Ro..., Salermo ( Rofrano, Salerno)
Date of Arrival: Jul 06, 1907
Age at Arrival: 22y Gender: M Marital Status: M
Ship of Travel: Luisiana
Port of Departure: Naples
Manifest Line Number: 0014

http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0014

joining at cousin Francesco Greco in Corona NY...

by ship's manifest of Carmela Messano 1921 arrival, she joining at son Antonio MIGLINO son..; the arrival:

First Name: Antonio
Last Name: Miglino
Ethnicity: Italy, Italian
Last Place of Residence: Rofracco, Italy ( last residence Rofrano but born in Sessa Cilento)
Date of Arrival: Mar 26, 1914
Age at Arrival: 22y Gender: M Marital Status: M
Ship of Travel: Venezia
Port of Departure: Naples
Manifest Line Number: 0013

pag 1 http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0013
pag 2 http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0013

from what I understand, Carmela Domine maiden name was Messano and when the first husband died( Domine) she remarried at Miglino.. and had other children... it is possible that Biagio was angry with Carmela, because she remarried?

This Carmela had also another son Giuseppe Miglino that also came in Corona NY;

First Name: Guiseppe
Last Name: Miglino
Ethnicity: Italy, Italian South
Last Place of Residence: Rofrano, Italy
Date of Arrival: Apr 09, 1914
Age at Arrival: 17y Gender: M Marital Status: S
Ship of Travel: Cincinnati
Port of Departure: Naples
Manifest Line Number: 0009
born in Rofrano (26 Jul 1896), last residence Rofrano, mother Carmela in Rofrano also and joining at brother in law Giovanni Greco in Corona NY

Thank you the information is very interesting. Just wish I knew for sure if this is her. You have been a very big help. A distant cousin of mine had told me that Carmela had a sister named Nella. She also told me rumor in the family says Carmela was married to a Ralph Sanatore there is also someone by the name of Gaetano Greco but we do not know who he is.

I had family find some great information in some records they have. Biagio's birth fathers name is Rapheli Greco. So now I need to figure out how he got the last name Domine (Domino) did his mother Carmela give him her maiden name? Or did she marry a man with that last name and give it to Biagio? Can someone help me with Rapheli Greco? He was from Salerno area Italy. We do not know if he ever came to the US or not. Thank you

in the first trip of 1907, Biagio Domine, he joining at cousin Francesco Greco in Corona NY... now this Raffaele Greco as can be the Biagio father? maybe was a uncle or cousin.... in effects a Raffaele Greco from Rofrano immigrated in USA in 1906 and joining at Francesco Greco brother in Corona NY... http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0014

and ditto for the second trip in 1909 http://www.ellisisland.org/search/shipm ... 1558020526

for to know something abt right relationship, it is necessary to search in Rofrano civil records but ..bad luck.... no availables by LDS microfilms..

Thank you for trying to help me. I guess it is confirmed that Biagio's father is indeed Rapheli Greco. Rapheli had another son Also named Rapheli which would be Biagio's half brother (same father different mothers) this is so confusing.
