birth record

Post by DonnaH »

On a birth record if on the bottom part under La persona suddetta ha contratto matrimonio con has x's thru it does that mean the parents were not married???

Then i have the phrase Si rilascia per uso Amm/vo. what does the Amm/vo mean.

after the birth date it has da Michele e da Ambrosino Maria. I assume these were the parents and that Ambrosino is the mothers surname. Is this correct

any help very much appreciated

Donna,

If you post the document (image shack is free) it will be easier to intrpret the document correctly. Taking a phase out of context may give an incorrect interpretation. What year did the birth occur? There was a time when a couple was married in the church and not a civil ceremony. The marriage was not recognized by the state.

Tafford Cole has written a book called Italian Genealogical Records that is very helpful in explaining the Italian records and has examples of translations.

La persona suddetta ha contratto matrimonio con
=The person same at above was married with....

Si rilascia per uso Amm/vo. what does the Amm/vo
= si rilascia per uso amministrativo= mean"this act given for administrative use

after the birth date it has da Michele e da Ambrosino Maria. I assume these were the parents and that Ambrosino is the mothers surname. Is this correct= yes

Donna,
the opposite!
1. "La persona suddetta ha contratto matrimonio con..." means that "The person has married someone...".

2. "Amm/vo" means "amministrativo". So, the document you have was released for administrative use only.

3. Yes, correct. Michele=father and Ambrosino MAria=mother. Ambrosino is her maiden name.

Hope this help, Alessia.
