Abramo Family name

Post by MikeIAbramo »

Looking for any information on my Grandfather Michele Abramo. He was born in 1881 in Tripi,Messina, Sicily. His parents were Antonio and Guisaffa Abramo. He married a girl from Tripi. Her name was Agostina Palermo. Any information would be helpful.

Thanks,
Mike Abramo

Could you be mistaken about the date and ship my grandfather,Michele Abramo departed Italy. I could not find his name on the manifest for the Roma. I was able to find him on the Lahn in March 1903. The other information you provided is what I had been told.

Thanks For Your Help

I believe that the arrival that I found is right
Name: Michele Abramo
Arrival Date: 20 Feb 1905
Birth Year: abt 1882
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/Race/Nationality: Italian
Port of Departure: Naples, Italy
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Roma
if you enlarge the picture or by the URL http://postimage.org/image/pkbz5eef7/
you can read in line 3 abt Michele Abramo, never in USA before, coming from Tripi, married, joining at brother in law Vincenzo Palermo
who you found on the March 1903 Lahn I know not if is another Michele Abramo it is possible...

Re: Abramo Family name

Post by MikeIAbramo »

I am now more confused than when I started. Is it possible that 1905 trip was a second one. My grandfather was married on Sep 1,1912,so Vincenzo Palermo would have been his brother-in law to be. Also is there any information on Antonino and his wife Guiseppi (Bucolo) Abramo

Although tracing my family history is confusing,I hope by gathering as much information as possible, I will be able trace my ancestors.

Thanks again for all your help

Mike,
Michele Abramo was born on 1881;
it is very possible that he was married at another sister of Vincenzo Palermo, no Augustine, but to another sister of Augustine and Vincenzo?
Michele Abramo sure married at Augustine in USA and not in Tripi, IT...
That because Augustine Palermo joining at brother Vincenzo Palermo came in USA on 12th Aug 1912

First Name: Agostina
Last Name: Palermo
Ethnicity: Italy, Italian South
Last Place of Residence: Tripi, Messina
Date of Arrival: Aug 12, 1912

Age at Arrival: 16y ( no, wrong age transcription; she was 26 old by ship's manifest)
Gender: F
Marital Status: S
Ship of Travel: Stampalia
Port of Departure: Napoli
Manifest Line Number: 0012
pag 1 http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0012

pag 2 http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0012

I have no much free time for to search in Tripi civil records by familysearch.org, and no indexes.. :(
but I am sure that in Tripi civil records are the first marriage of Michele on or before of 1905 and also the wife death if occurred before of 1910( civil records availables until 1910)...
after Michele first wife death.. Augustine(Agostina) came in USA and married at Michele that was also her brother in law...

only my suggestion, but I am pretty sure ....

I guess I will have to do more research. The information I have is that my grandfather was never married prior to coming to the USA. Still researching Antonino and Guiseppi Abramo, maybe something will come up.

thanks

Yes I agree... maybe the Michele marital status in 1905 trip is wrong... it is possible...
a Michele brother: Vincenzo Abramo came in USA in 1913, and joining at Michele

First Name: Vincenzo
Last Name: Abramo
Ethnicity: Italy, Italian
Last Place of Residence: Tripi, Italy
Date of Arrival: Sep 23, 1913
Age at Arrival: 29y Gender: M Marital Status: M
Ship of Travel: Taormina
Port of Departure: Napoli
Manifest Line Number: 0006

Trying in Tripi marriages from jan 1900 to feb 1905 I no found marriage records abt Michele... so the "m"( married) on the ship's manifest is a error..
and abt Vincenzo Palermo "brother in law" Vincenzo Palermo was in effects just the brother of Michele's fiancée(Agostina)...
to declare "brother in law" is a bit inaccurate, because Vincenzo Palermo becoming Michele's brother in law just on sep 1912...

Thanks for work and information are providing, most of it is what I have told by family members and papers/documemts I been able to find.

I have been told that my grandfather (Michele) had one brother,Joseph. He immergrated to Argentina about the same time my grandfather came to the U S. I do not know if Joseph/Guiseppi was older or younger. I can not find any information on him so far, I will keep trying.

Thanks again for information you have provided.
