I will investigate more about it. I dont know where my grandfather was from. I believe he was from Napoli also. My mother used to say he talked alot about the mount Vesuvios alot. I mentioned maratea because alot of Cernichiaro actually live in that area. I will keep looking if there is any relations between a person name Juan Cernichiaro and Felicita Montesano. The Cernichiaro Family and Montesano Family and there history in Italy. This most be between the 1820 and 1970.

Its good to know someone is looking for our family.
I send to get all the birth certificates to find the birth lines and verify all this information. I know that ALL CERNICCHIARO MONTESANO or genealogy line are a Big Family because all of them are from the same area Maratea, Napoles or other places in ITALY and all of our fathers or grandparents told us the same stories about the family or where they came from. So keep looking. Once I have more info I let you know.
We are from Panama Republic of Panama and we had a FAMILY MEMBER with the name of CERNICCHIARO MONTESANO (JOSE or/GIUSEPPE) he came to work IN THE EARLIER 1900's or earlier here in Panama and we believe he came from either ITALY, VENEZUELA or URUGUAY or BRASIL and then came to PANAMA where he worked for at the PANAMA CANAL.
We heard that he possibly came directly from URUGUAY then VENEZUELA and then PANAMA.
When he was young he was a member of ITALIAN ARMY during GENERAL GARIBALDI'S TIME (Perhaps around his 20's, 1893). He was on duty around Mount Blank, Italy, during that time. He decided to travel to America.
(He died November 4, 1960 at age 87 in San Felix, Province of Chiriqui, city of Panama (The death Certificate mention his father: JUAN CERNICCHIARO and his Mother: FELICIA MONTESANO DE CERNICCHIARO, Both from the Italy). He got married with a Panamenian woman LEONARDA MORENO DE CERNICCHIARO. And had kids. (At current time, there is one daughter alive, direct line of Giuseppe CERNICCHIARO MONTESANO, her name is JILMA CERNICCHIARO MORENO DE CORONEL, 88 years old, date of birthdate OCTOBER 6,).
In Italy the last name is CERNICCHIARO
In Panama they register the last name as CERNICHIARO as it sounds. But its the same last name. An other as CERMICHIARO. But its the same family.

Mr. GIUSEPPE CERNICCHIARO MONTESANO from Panama, had family in Italy and we don't know but a family member came looking for him around 1960-1962 in David city, Province of Chiriqui of Panama, but my Grandfather had already passed away. (Apparently this family member was blond and had blue eyes. At present time, I think this visiting member must be alive and maybe around 70 years old right know. With don't know his name or if he was visiting from any other country.)

I believe your great-grandmother Emilia Lacitignola, was my grandmother's sister. My grandmother was Isabella Lacitignola, and after she was married Isabella Fiorillo. Emilia Lacitignola was born on 24th June, 1857, in Maratea.
I would like to know more about the family.
