Help finding a U.S. naturalization document

Hi everyone,

I was looking on ancestry.com at the 1940 census and I found the sheet number for my great-grandfather's naturalization document. According to the 1940 census it is Sheet 13A. I have tried to search for it on ancestry, but there is so many of this type of record for Pennsylvania and I don't know whether to pick district or circuit court. If anyone could assist me in finding this document it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This does not sound like a naturalization reference #, but rather the Census form sheet #

Can you post the link to the ancestry record you referenced above?

Can you give us some information about your GGF? Maybe we can help you find some naturalization informaton...
Name, date of birth, place of birth, immigration year, place of residence, name of spouse and children? ANYTHING you can provide will help!

Here's his information: he was born Feb 12, 1887 in San Pietro, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy and he left arrived in the United States July 30, 1905. He lived in Brockway, Pennsylvania and he married Carmella Frances Bruno on May 23, 1924 in Brockway, Pennsylvania. They had three children Julia (born 1925) , George (born 1930), and Patsy (born 1932). Thank you for helping.

It appears that Pietro Gatto was naturalized after 1920 and before his 1930 census.

according to his 1917 WWI Card he wasn't naturalized

and his 1920 census in Jefferson County (in western Pennsylvania) he was still an alien
(immig 1905 in US 15 yrs)

I've tried the subscription site Fold3 (formerly Footnote) and can't find a record in Western PA

and no luck on ancestry. com for all years in PA with no name and a birthdate of Feb 1887

Thank you for taking time to help me with my search for this document. Do you think that maybe he didn't use the name Pietro when he applied for naturalization? Could he have used Pete or Peter? I know on the census documents (except 1910 I have yet to find him in that census) and other documents he uses the name Pete.

I couldn't find it at all in Pennsylvania under Pete, Peter or Pietro.
I even tried a no name search with Feb 1887 & Feb 1888 as a birth date.
You may have to request a search by NARA.

It is possible that he did not naturalize. The person who answered the census enumerator's questions in 1930 & 1940 may not have known or may have misunderstood the question.
