Pandolfo from Floridia Sicily

Post by LPANDOLFO »

I am just beginning to research my family from bac in Sicily. I am looking for info on grand parents and back

Father was Antonino Pandolfo from Floridia who married Giusippina DiGuardo. I dont know where they got married but understand they were both from the same town. If anyone has info please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it...

Here is a birth record from Floridia, Province of Siracusa, Sicily...

Record #294
NINO EGISTO PANDOLFO
Born on 11 September 1900.
Presented at the town hall for the record on 15 Sept.
Father: Antonio Pandolfo, carpenter
Mother: Giuseppa Aliffi, housewife, wife of Antonio

Translation of record:
In the year 1900, on day 15 September at 11:40 AM at the town hall, before me [the official] appeared Santa Caccamo, 71, midwife residing in Floridia, to declare that at hour 18 (6 PM) of day 11 of the current month, at the place at Via Corso #132, to Giuseppa Aliffi, housewife, wife of Antonio Pandolfo, carpenter, both residing in Floridia, was born a male child, who was presented to me and to whom was given the name NINO EGISTO.
Witnesses to the recording of this birth were Mariana Spada, 34, housewife; and Carmela Failla, 55, housewife, both residing in Floridia.
The Declarant [Caccamo] made the presentation because the husband of Aliffi was not able to as he was away.
Only the official signed the record as the others were illiterate.

NOTATION in right column:

On 21 December 1924, Nino Egisto Pandolfo married in Floridia, with Giuseppa DiGuardo, daughter of deceased Serafino.

Records online for Floridia are scarce. They begin with 1900 :-( with most only going to 1910... Death records online are available through 1929.

Civil registrations are available to view on microfilm at your local LDS Family History Center... 1820-1929
https://familysearch.org/search/catalog ... m%2F586535

Before 1820, you would need to search the church records which are in Latin.

BTW - I was able to find the death record for a child of Nino and Giuseppa
Floriana Pandolfo, age 6 months 8 days, died 10 September 1929.

Hey Valarie!

THANKS!!!
Yes, I'm glad the notation was there.
It appears that Giuseppa DI GUARDO was the wife of NINO, not Antonio... :-)
