i'd appreciate help with understanding / translation of the role of Maria Michele Membrino....was she a nurse for the orphaned child Angela Adriano AND the wife of declarant giuseppe dotolo? would membrino have been with the child at the time of her death, is that why she is mentioned?

This is an abandoned infant-15 days old-who died in the home of its assigned wetnurse, Maria Michele Membrino, so I think it is a good assumption that Maria was with the infant at the time of her death. There was no bottle feeding of children at the time, so abandoned infants were always assigned to wetnurses, in this case a woman who did it in her home (she would have been a so-called "external wetnurse" who got a stipend from her town for serving in that capacity). Did you find the infant's birth record which would indicate that she was assigned to this wetnurse, Maria Michele?

thanks for the explanation....actually a friend of mine (we share membrino ancestors from ariano irpino) is interested in tracking this line, so I copy membrino & iuspa records for him as i am researching my lines. i thought this might be additional info for him to clarify her role as recorded on the death record and her occupation.
