Re: Maloni, Salvatore
Thanks Marty,
That helps alot, I doubt that is my great grandfather then, unless I can get info from family that he went to Philly first.

Took a look at the manifest...billoms wrote:I found a possible hit on a ship manifest from the SS Germania, arrived oct 1903 in NY. There was a Salvatore Melone/Milone, age 17,From Falcone, visiting an uncle Sebastian D'Amico.. However it does not say were Seb is located. I tried looking for him but no hit. What do you think?
Salvatore's destination is Galion, Ohio
The address for Sebastiano D'Amico is South Market St. 925(?), Galion, Ohio
The passenger immediately above him is going to the same person in Galion, Ohio, who is listed as his brother-in-law.

Sorry Marty. I didn't realize you had responded...
BTW - I read that the destination (Sebastiano D'Amico) on the manifest is in OHIO, Not Philly.
Still don't think it's Bill's ancestor either way!

Re: Maloni, Salvatore
I think this was an attempt by someone who didn't understand an accent to write NUNZIO
Or possible Annunziato?

Re: Maloni, Salvatore
I Think you are right. Salvatore's first male child's name is Nunzio. Is Annunziato the formal name and Nunzio a "nickname" in italian?
Re: Maloni, Salvatore
I believe it is just NUNZIO...billoms wrote:I Think you are right. Salvatore's first male child's name is Nunzio. Is Annunziato the formal name and Nunzio a "nickname" in italian?
There is a female name - Annunziata - but I have not found a male counterpart.

Re: Maloni, Salvatore
Just came across these posts. I don't know if you are still looking for info, but my father-in-law, Mario, (85) is Salvatore and Parmina's (née Vinci) only surviving son. He said the kids names were Pauline, Nunzio, Rosie, Lena, Joseph, Jenny, Frank, Philly (drowned at age 12), and Mario. Also, Mario said he remembers his mother's name was Parmina, but he said he remembered someone calling her Lena. He said his parents also had male twins (born before the other children) that both died of pneumonia one year apart. Are you a relative?
