DEATH RECORD INDEX 60 MARIA CARMELA TELESE
Dated 18 August 1887 at 9 a.m.
Maria Carmela died “ iere” (yesterday) so therefore on 17 August at 2.40 p.m. in a house at No 20 Via San Giovanni aged 15 months in Frigento.
She was born and living in Frigento.
Her parents were Mariano, Contadino living in Frigento and Maria Gaetana Feola, Contadino (Peasant Farmer) living in Frigento.
It says Carmela was “Nubile” single female.
I've just noticed that the number of the address has changed so will go back and check both records again.

Yes, it is recorded as No 20 Via San Giovanni so they must have changed houses.
The people presenting the information were:
Rocco Famiglietti, Aged 32, Suatore – not sure what this occupation is. Maybe my eyes are deceiving me?
And Giuseppe Famiglietti, Aged 60, Vetturale – Cabman (in those days?)
Both living in Frigento.
They must be father and son. I have added their names in case they are in your family history too.

I've had a wee think about this word. Maybe it is Scultore - Sculptor?AngelaGrace56 wrote:Yes, it is recorded as No 20 Via San Giovanni so they must have changed houses.

I think the occupation in the record is secatore
This is a new one for me. The word is derived from the verb "to saw." I see references on google books such as secatore di legname-relating to lumber; secatore di marmi, relating to marble, secatore di prato, relating to the field and meadows, secatore di mietitori (relating to a harvester), etc. I have to do some more research on this occupation, but I think it is the correct spelling of the occupation in the record.

Re: Telese, Maria Carmela
Great, thank you Erudita, well done! It certainly makes sense to me. I certainlhy see “s” and “atore” clearly. What follows the “s”, even though it looks like a “u”, I’m sure now is “ec”. The two letters “e” that appear in “Giuseppe” don’t exactly look like “e” neither yet we know that’s what they are.erudita74 wrote:AngelaGrace56 wrote:I've had a wee think about this word. In the book Our Italian Names, the author Joseph G Fucilla even notes that the surname Secatore was derived from the field of carpentry. I also found another reference for the word in "secatori di travi"-plural-those who sawed beams or girders
