Good day and thank you for this website.
My wife is a VIVIANI, and we are hoping someone can help us with her Italian lineage believed to be in the hamlets of Acquamela and Aiello in Baronissi/Salerno/Campania.
We would like to locate source records to document birth/death/marriage and parents of ROCCO VIVIANI b. 1840 in Aiello, d. 1879? in Acquamela; married 1861 to ANTONIA GALDO b. 1842 in Aiello, d. 1922 in Italy.
They had at least six sons. Of interest to us is son ANTONIO VIVIANI who emigrated to Brazil. Family lore portrayed him as a rebel/anarchist who fled Italy for legal/political reasons. We are hoping to locate documentation of his birth and departure from Italy. I am guessing he was born between 1861 and 1879?
As info I believe Rocco and Antonia Galdo Viviani also had sons Raffaele b. 3 Mar 1872 in Acquamela, d. 1967 in New York USA; Giovanni b. 12 Apr 1878 in Salerno, d. 1960 in New York USA; Joseph b. 5 Apr 1884 in Baronissi; Sabatello b. 24 Jul 1885, d. 1981 in New Jersey USA; and Louis. I can't explain the purported death year of Rocco as being 1879 and at least two of his sons being born after that date. The various emigration and US Naturalization documents of the Viviani sons support that they were from the Aiello Acquamela/Baronissi/Salerno/Campania area.
Thanks in advance to anyone inclined to help us. Jim

There are no microfilmed or online records for this town or its hamlets. You might try contacting the town. Here is the official website:
http://www.comune.baronissi.sa.it/
The email address which appears at the bottom of the site's home page is for official government business only and will not work for you. I can't find an email address for the ufficio anagrafe or stato civile which would house records. There are some other addresses on the website, so as long as you do not see "pec" in the address, you might try one of those such as
giulia.risi@comune.baronissi.sa.it
The office is probably small and your email will then be given to the appropriate person. Unfortunately, I have found that a lot of town offices in this province never reply to emails. It doesn't hurt to try though.

Re: Viviani
Jim,
The microfilm reel I am reviewing happens to have certain records from Aiello. I do not see the surname Viviano in
birth - 1886-1895
death records 1866-1899
marriage 1876-1895
donna

Re: Viviani
I am the Great Grandson of Giovanni Viviani. My grandfather was his son Louis, my father John and I am Robert Viviani. I believe your wife's grandfather Rocco immigrated from Brazil to my g grandfather's house in East Harlem NYC
