Re: Chicago Giordanos
Wow, I didn’t think I would get much of a response. First I’d like to thank you all for your help, I really appreciate it.
JCSM400: Thanks, I’ll try to get the Birth Certificates for the older children. W/ regards to the Death Certificates, none of the children stayed in Chicago. I know that my Grandfather and his brother both died in NY (I attended my Uncles wake in 1979).
W/ regards to the 1920 census, I don’t believe that is the correct family but it is a pretty close match. According to my Father; my Grand father came to Brooklyn when he was 14. Things are real cloudy about his family. I will check w/ the church and do some detective work, once I have more info I will post it.
Kim: It is possible but highly unlikely that I have any Giordano relatives in your neck of the woods. The only male Giordanos are in the Brooklyn/ NYC area.
The name Giordano is a very popular Italian name; it might be considered the Smith of Italy!!!
Nuccia: Yes, that is my Grandmother! La famiglia Pantone come from the town of Pomarico in the province of Matera in the region of Basilicata (Luciana). We still have cousins there but we are scattered through NYC & Philadelphia.
Thank you!

I'm curious.
Why do you think the 1920 isn't the right family?

Re: Chicago Giordanos
I don't believe that the whole Giordano family was in NY in 1920, I'm not even sure if my Great Grandparents ever lived in NY. My father never knew his grandparents. Also as I stated my Grandfather was born in Cook County, Chicago, IL and didn't come to Brooklyn until he was 14 (around 1926) and when he met my Grandmother I believe his parents were dead. His brother Adam could've been here but no one is sure.
It is pretty uncanny though. I have to reach out to my Aunt and see if she can contact anyone from my Grandfathers family (That she knows and is still alive)
I'll be in big time detective mode over Easter, I’ll grill my Aunt and Father and hopefully jog their memories.

A quick update....
No real solid info, but I have my Aunt doing some research. I have to get over to her house and compare notes.
Hopefully I'll have more info shortly!

Definitely go and see your aunt! If nothing else, you'll spend some quality time with her. I try to go and see mine every week now and besides the info she and I exchange, I know it makes her very happy and it makes me happy, too. She's old and not sure how much longer she'll be around so while we are researching our past lets not forget the present...
Hope to hear from you soon!

Perhaps if you go to http://www.ssa.gov/foia/html/foia_guide.htm and request a copy of Albert's SS-5 social security card application. It will show his parents names but not necessarily their place of origin in Italy but since apparently you don't have their names it might be a help in tracing back their arrival in the USA and from that to their place of origin in Italy.
