Re: Cipriano, Maria Rosa Birth
Dated April 9, 1874 at 10 am in Frigento
Appearing was Francesco Saverio Cipriano, the son of deceased Giulio, age 31, a farmer living in Frigento. He presented a feminine baby born to his wife Maria Rosaria Cocchiola, daughter of Rocco Cocchiola. The infant was born in their rural house on Contrada Fontana Levara today at 4 a.m. and was being given the name Maria Rosa.
To help you in reading the record-Francesco appeared before the secretary to the mayor who was Nicola Maria Pelosi. He had been designated to this position by an act dated Dec 30, 1867. So that is the info you see in the first part of the record on the left.

Re: Cipriano, Maria Rosa Birth
Thanks, Erudita. There was no number on the address, correct? And tell me please if I have this right: Maria Rosa is her name, but in the margin it says Maria Rosaria with a line over and below the "ria", so that is a correction, correct?
Grazie,
Dolores

That's correct, the line over and below the "ria" mean that "ria" is crossed out.dmurphy1940 wrote:Thanks, Erudita. There was no number on the address, correct? Often the name in the margin was written after the completion of the record (and I saw documents where the Official just forgot it).
In case of discrepancy, the correct name is always the one that is in the body or the record. Unless there is a margin notation (supported by a court order) which gives explicitly the correct name.
If the official made a mistake in the body of the record he may correct it and put a note at the end of the record, before the the signatures....
Re: Cipriano, Maria Rosa Birth
Thanks, Livio for answering Dolores about the error, since I wasn't able to get back to her yesterday.
