Here are a couple of death records for a father and son who died together in 1855. The deaths were in part II under "atto di morte repentina" ("sudden death"). They died in the countryside in Santa Rosalia, which is a ravine in the comune of Ribera. (I can't make out all the words in the place of death - if someone could be more specific I'd appreciate it). It appears that they died by something falling on them: "per essere caduto un pezzo di...." What is the word after "un pezzo di"?

How did these men die?
Re: How did these men die?
Here's another one from the same time period:

Maestro Baldassare Carubbia died at home at midnight on 7 Nov 1852. What does it say immediately after his name just before his age (24)? This probably is how he died and explains why this record is not included with the ordinary death records.

Here's one more violent death, similar to the first one:

How did Gioacchino Triolo die? He seems to have fallen from on top of something. Specifically, what word is missing here: "d'aver caduto dall'alto di un..., che gli produsse la morte violenta"? Bonus points if you can figure out what the name of that place in Calamonaci is (looks like "L...ilici").

I think the word you are missing is balzo-he jumped or leaped from high which led to his violent death
The feudo di Lubilici (?), but I can't find anything about it. I only see feudo di Bilici, but I don't believe that is in relation to Calamonaci

Re: How did these men die?
He died from some kind of blow-I see the word colpo di ... I keep thinking colpo di coltello (blow from a knife), but I don't think the 4th letter is a t.carubia wrote:Here's another one from the same time period:

Re: How did these men die?
Both of the Guarino's died (I hope I translate correctly into English) in a quarry of stone, because of the falling of part of it. The word is "perriera", italianization of Sicilian "pirrera" or "perrera".
As Erudita correctly said, Carrubbia died "a cagione tagli per aver sofferto un colpo di coltello" ("because of cuts from a blow of knife"); and Triolo "a cagion d'esser caduto dall'alto di un balzo".

Re: How did these men die?
Thank you both. I really appreciate the help.
I thought it looked like "perriera" but couldn't find a translation.
The name was Carubbia, not Carrubbia. Now it is spelled with just one 'b', but it never was spelled with 2 r's. I often find people (and Ancestry) think that it's related to Carrubba, but as far as I can tell it's not, unless the names diverged at least 300 years ago in Cianciana.

Re: How did these men die?
Happy to help. Glad Pippo was able to decipher the rest.
