Lista di Leva

Suanj's comments about the Lista di Leva in the "Finding My Grandpas family (Cataldo)" topic sparked my curiosity. I am quickly running out of online records available from my ancestor's communes (records before 1866). This might be an alternate way to get info for the men (instead of contacting the Ufficio Anagrafe, and waiting for a response).

Is there a place to search Lista di Leva? I checked the Antenati site, but didn't find anything for my family. Thanks in advance.

Alternately, is there a point of contact to help nudge along the process of LDS getting its new contracts in place? Or at least let it be known that there would be interest in updates on the matter?

For Sicily, numerous communes recently had their microfilms digitized for 1820-1860 as well as the Riveli. Unfortunately, after a few short weeks, it was realized that the proper contracts weren't in place to allow these records to be viewed -- even at a Family History Center. (Which strikes me as a bit baffling... the microfilms can be viewed at an FHC, but not the digital equivalent?)

This is especially important as many of the microfilms appear to be on backorder. Of the six I requested, four have yet to change status. A terrible tease after having a couple of months access to all of those records at my local FHC!

Hi just some Archive of state have liste di leva ( and sometmes the Ruoli matricolari also) on line... nothing abt antenati website...
I know that curenntly are availables in:
Cosenza archive
Salerno archive
Benevento archive
Vicenza archive
Gorizia archive
Rovigo and Padova Archives
Treviso archive
Udine archive
Torino archive
Venezia archive
Trento archive
Alessandria and Asti archives
and maybe some other archive....
however here a complete and helpful list by Communes; someone isavailable by database on line and someone available by microfilms in Familysearch center....

This is a great reference. Unfortunately the comune for my nonno and nonna (bisnonno) are not listed. However, it's still handy. There's lots of good research tips. Thanks for sharing.

Hi erudita, the Salerno archive is the second of my list!, obiviously, who wish to search in one of the list, well it can search the archive websites by google, and to search the database abt liste di leva and- or ruoli matricolari.... These database are very helpfuls... Currently don' t working anymore abt liste di leva database: Palermo archive, Vibo Valentia archive, Avellino archive, andò some other provincial archive, maybe they will work nextly, hoping so!

Enhancing the list, FamilySearch has several "Lista di Leva" archives available on microfilm. See the section labelled "Finding Military Records" on the Wiki page below:

This Wiki page adds Parma, Catania, Bolzano, Piacenza, Pistoia, Messina, Siracusa and Aosta to the list of available "Lista di Leva" resources.
