Staffieri/Pagliarulo

Post by kindaru1 »

I am seeking info on my in-law's parents. Their names were Antonio Pagliarulo (db: 1874) and Adelaide Staffieri (Staffier?)(db: 1882). Adelaide had 5 sisters (one being Angela) and 3 brothers. Antonio had a brother (at least one) named Emil (Emilio?). Both came from the Naples area. I was able to locate an Angela Staffieri as coming to Ellis Island in 1906. It looks as though Angela may have been with some siblings..a Rocco and Olivia, however, I do not see sibling Adelaide listed. Antonio may have come to the states (Ellis Island) in 1902. If it's the same Antonio that I'm seeking, the one listed on the ship's manifest was going to visit a brother Guisseppe in Newark. However, according to Antonio's daughter, Florence, she doesnt remember Antonio having any other sibling other than Emilio.

Any info. would be appreciated!

THanks to all of you! What wonderful info you provided. I feel as though I am uncovering a treasure! I am unsure if Nuccia's info. re: Emilio is correct. I will have to contact the aunt (Antonio's daughter, Florence) to see if she remembers any more info about her father's family. As far as the ship info re: Adelaide, I think that is right on target! The aunt remembers her mother (Adelaide) as being about 16 when she came to the states. Plus, my mother-in-law (one of Antonio/Adelaide's 13 kids) said her mother told her stories about coming over on the ship and having a nanny brush her hair on the trip.
I will be talking to the aunt today and hopefully can get a little more info to get better clarification as to Antonio's draft potential and the Emilio question. My guess is that there were more brothers that the aunt may not remember.
The ultimate goal would be to find some living relatives in Italy and be able to come to Italy on our 10th anniversary to locate those relatives and see where exactly Antonio and Adelaide were from!
