Marriage Sergi-Sapienza

Looking for info on marriage of grandparents Salvatore Sergi and grandmother Lucia Sapienza in or near Viagrande sometime between 1909-1914.

Salvatore was born in Aci Bonaccorsi August 15,1876. Brothers Francesco and Guiseppe. Sisters Stefana and Angela. Emigrated to America in 1905. Father was Dominic and mother possibly Rose Cavilli. Was married previously to Carmela Marziotta or Mazzotti.

Lucia was born September 23,1889 in Viagrande. Emigrated to America in 1914.

Of course any other info would be great also. I am looking for their birth certificates as well.

Well Salvatore Sergi and Carmela Mazziotta married in Viagrande on 15 May 1900 #25: He was born in Aci Bonaccorsi but residing in Viagrande:

so now we can be sure abt the birthplace that is Aci Bonaccorsi.
Abt Lucia Sapienza, I cannot find her arrival , and I cannot find her name in the decade index of Viagrande

I searched the Birth because sometimes are marriage note at bottom....
for bad luck no civil records for both the towns, after 1910, and no previous of 1890, just the decade idex, but I believe that the Church records are availables..

But maybe they married in USA, it could be possible?

I write again the arrival of 1912, because I searched if in the ship's manifest was Lucia, maybe.. instead I found just Stefana Sergi, little sister of Salvatore. Line 20 Salvatore, line 26 Stefana:

Mystery solved:
Salvatore made another trip on 1914, and travelling also the wife Lucia, 34 old on 1914, so born abt on 1880, if the age on the ship's manifest is right, and little son Luigi, 9 old. Salvatore left father Domenico in Viagrande. Joining to Brother Francesco in Lawrence, Mass., and all seeming born in Viagrande, but we know that Salvatore was born in Aci Bonaccorsi

She entered America March 9, 1914 in Boston. She was traveling with Salvatore and Luigi. She is listed as wife. The family story goes that Salvatore's first wife, Carmela, died in America. Salvatore returned to Italy married Lucia and brought her back to America.

Tessa has been helping me quite a bit. We have not had any luck as of yet with the marriage of Salvatore and Lucia. I have been a bit busy to followup with her suggestions. I plan on doing that soon. I am not sure if I posted the link correctly to her arrival below.

However I don't found her Death record in USA... I believe she came bach from children... Also I believe she died around 1912 and for that Salvatore went in Italy,even for legally entrust the children's custody to his parents. In meantime is very possible that the his parents searched for a new wife, and no easy, because Salvatore was widowed with two children and the new wife would have had to agree to leave the country... and when Salvatore back in Italy on 1914, he married, because on the ship's manifest is wrote "wife", it are a a stamp with a statement about her legal US entry, verified in 1928.

Lucia and Salvatore married in Viagrande on 1914, or on 1913, because on the trip of 1914, Salvatore declares that he was in USA from 1904 to 1913..... Instead Lucia and little Luigi never in USA....

I believe that it is possible that Lucia was actually the sister of his brother's wife. His brother Giuseppe, who was in America, was married to a Giuseppina Sapienza.

He actually had four children with his wife Carmela. They were Luigi, Rosa, Dominic, and Giovanna.

However the Church records are no helpfuls, because arriving until 1910.. and Salvatore and Lucia married after.. I believe that, the better way is to ask- in the Viagrande Town Hall, Civil records office- the marriage certificate and the 1914 "circa " is enough for the clerk, because have spouses names and abt Salvatore also parent's names...

ok, so had 4 children... it is very possible, two brothers married two sisters... I am so sorry that no civil records on line after 1910, really it would be a nice Christmas gift for you, to find the marriage record on line. But for now is no possible. The other way is to write in the Commune, as I suggested in my previous post.

I did find her death record. She died in child birth on January 8, 1910 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. With Tessa's help I put together letters to both Viagrande and Aci Bonnacorsi.
