Ambrosio/Micieli

Post by Kristin676 »

Hello,

I am looking for any information on the Ambrosio/Micieli family from Santa Caterina Albanese, Cosenza. I know that my great grandparents Luigi Giuseppe Ambrosio and Camilla Micieli were both born in Santa Caterina Albanese. I also know their parents names. However, I am looking for more information if anyone has any.

Thank you

Hello Kristin :-)

Civil registrations (births, marriages, deaths) for Santa Caterina Albanese, Cosenza, are not available online.
However, you can rent and view the microfilms of this town (1809-1910) at your nearest Family History Center.
Here is the link to the records they have on microfilm...

Hi,
as Tessa wrote, no civil records on line... I can just add, by Cosenza archive, Luigi Giuseppe military record:

atto numero - di pagina 428 sezione -

nato il 28/12/1862 a SANTA CATERINA

the Birth date is 28 Dec 1862...

Kristin: on the Pubblicazioni for Luigi and Camilla/Carmela Micieli it states the final date for posting the banns of marriage was 31 Aug 1887, so far no Atto di Matrimonio to confirm a date. Luigi's mother was Angela BONANATA on the Pubblicazioni image. The FHC films are difficult to read as some of the old records were in poor condition so you'd need a lot of experience reading and interpreting to see the words. The records themselves are out of order, and most are Allegati, not actually birth, death and marriage per se. It's been a long hard road getting through them and very frustrating. Camilla's parents were Domenico MICIELI and Serafina CRISTIANO. Camilla's parents and Luigi's parents were all deceased before the 1887 marriage. Do you have any information about their emigration to Passa Vinte, Brazil? I've emailed the town and am waiting to see if they have records. You may email me at GenYourWay@gmail.com and i'll be glad to share info with you.Loretta www.GenealogyYourWay.com

Thank you for all the help. I can't believe everyones help. I am hoping to find out more about Luigi's and Camilla parents. I did know that emigrated to Brazil. My great grandmother was born in Rio de Janeiro. I sure hope they put the records from Cosenza online soon.
