Giacin

Post by NextMove »

My nan - Corinna Ursula Giacin born 18.1.1901 Peaio (Comune of Vodo di Cadore) was the first daughter. I dont know the names of either of her parents but her mother died and father married again. He then had two boys and three girls all of which (except one boy) I knew as I was growing up.

I would be very interested to especially know the name of my Nan's mother (the lady who died young) but also her father.

The name Giacin seems quite rare (Ive seen it ending with various vowels) but I happen to come across an article online about an American actor, name of Robert Giacin, whose grandfather (Guido) had been born in Peaio, then had emigrated to the USA. Peaio is and always was, very small, a frazione, so the find is quite exciting :)

EDIT TO ADD***

Here is the death act of a daughter born in 1904 to Cesare and Maria.
This child was 3 months old, and her mother is listed as deceased on the death act.
It would appear that Maria De Lorenzo may have died in child birth, or shortly after.
