Act #22
Dated 30 December 1836 in Geraci (Church celebration on 10 January 1837)
Groom: Carmelo la Iuppa, widower of Domenica San Filippo, age 26, proprietor residing in Rua San Michele, born in Geraci to deceased Gaetano, and to deceased Grazia Murgia
Bride: Maria lo Pizzo (this is how it is spelled on the record), 27, residing Rua di San Pietro, born in Geraci to deceased Giuseppe, and to Giuseppa Murgia, 53, residing in Rua di San Pietro.
The bride was assisted by her mother as her father and paternal grandfather were deceased, and [the moter] gave her formal consent; the groom was without assistance as his parents and paternal grandfather were deceased.
Banns of marriage were posted in this town on 4 December 1836
Documents provided:
1 - act of birth of the groom
2 - act of birth of the bride
3 - acts of death of the parents and grandfather of the groom
4 - act of death of Domenica San Filippo, first wife of the groom
5 - act of notification in this town resulting in no opposition
The bride did not provide the acts of death of her father and grandfather, she was given consent of her mother who declared that they were deceased.
The witnesses who participated gave assurance that they know the bride and knew her father and her grandfather were deceased.
Witnesses: Mastro Dinisio Antista, 58, proprietor; Mastro Gaetano Spallina, 40, carpenter; Gaetano Antista, 58, shepherd; Salvadore Arata, 45, shepherd.
The first two witnesses signed with the official, and the others did not because they did not know how to write.

Just a note... :D

In many of these records I am seeing Carmelo's surname as la Iuppa.

This record also has lo Pizzo as the surname of his wife.

Thank you Tessa, I'll review our records to make sure that there aren't 2 separate families.
