Handwritten funeral bill 1925 - Montanari in Troia

Post by robgazy »

Can someone translate this handwritten funeral bill?

The named person is Diego Montanari, who I believe is my Grandmother's paternal Grandfather. He was married to Maria Caputo in Troia in 1903, and the only children I know of so far was a daughter Marie Pucariello of Norwalk CT and a son Domenico (c1879-1946, married to Maria Sorge (c1876-1942) and naturalized US citizen 1914, lived Dubois, PA and died Niagara Falls, NY).

Thanks in advance!

The bill is from the Chiesa dell'Addolorato di Troia for the three days of sung Masses for Diego, his wife, and children-on March 18, 20, and 21st 1925. There are individual amounts that were billed for each of the priests who participated, as well as for their assistants at the Masses. There was major assistance to the sung Masses by the organist, so he was paid for all three days

OK thanks! So it wasn't anyone's funeral after all?

The 1925 death records for the town are not accessible online but I would say that, unless family members died at the same time, these Masses were just in the honor of the deceased members of this family and not actually for their funerals.

Also, you have incorrect info in your initial post on this thread. It was the son Domenico who married Maria Sorge in 1903 in Troia-on Nov 29, 1903- and not his parents Diego M and Maria Caputo. The son Domenico was age 24 at the time of his 1903 marriage.
